Award-winning Taste

Welcome to Rio Largo Olive Estate

Award-winning extra virgin olive oil produced on the Rio Largo Olive Estate in the Scherpenheuwel Valley, between Worcester and Robertson on the Southern banks of the Breede River in South Africa.

Meet the owners

Nick & Brenda Wilkinson

Nick and Brenda Wilkinson bought the farm in 2010 from Carlos Raposo who had previously developed the estate and brand since 2003. With their combined experience working in Central and Southern Africa for over 20 years, Nick is a CA with a reputation for turning agricultural businesses, and Brenda is a teacher and marketing specialist.

Nick had been interested in olives and olive farming since 1997 and spent much time researching the ins and outs of olive farming before buying Rio Largo Olive Estate. Nick has since spent time perfecting the perfect blend between the Frantoio, Coratino, and Leccino cultivars to an award-winning standard that our consumers know and trust.

Try it – You’ll love it!

Our extra virgin olive oil is grown, harvested, and processed on the estate. Each label is different on the outside but has the same great quality on the inside.

More About

Our Estate

Owned by Nick and Brenda Wilkinson, Rio Largo farm comprises olive orchards, vines, an olive-specific nursery, and a state-of-the-art OLIOMIO olive processing and bottling plant. Nick had been interested in olives and olive farming since 1997 and spent much time researching the ins and outs of olive farming before buying Rio Largo Olive Estate. He has since prefect the quality blend between the Frantoio, Coratino, and Leccino cultivars to an award-winning standard that our consumers know and trust.

In the Breede River Valley, summer daytime temperatures can be high but the afternoon south easterly breezes from Cape Agulhas, the “wind doctor” in local parlance, bring relief and cool nights. With superior Italian cultivars, state-of-the-art processing facilities, ideal storage facilities, and owner-driven passion to continually strive for better, we have a winning recipe.
